A Crafty Party Weekend….weee!

Just as a random announcement to get the word out (I apologize for the lack of other blog posts!)

Tomorrow, Friday, June 10th, There will be an Etsy Craft Party day Meetup! It’s national Etsy Craft Party Day and we Davis people just should not be left out. So, If you are a fellow Etsy seller, buyer, or have never heard of Etsy, but want to meet craft people in Davis, Head on over to the “Garret” of Haute Again tomorrow night around 6pm. It’s the Art About in Davis and we plan to meet up and either walk around and admire the lovely works, or find a cozy place to talk about how crafty we are.
Second fun thing to happen this weekend…..drum roll……It is also WWKIP day!!!! That’s World Wide knit in Public Day if you haven’t ever come across such a weird abbreviation before….
There will be a group of Knitter’s scaring away the passers-by at the Farmer’s Market around 11am…
Alright Davis people – I send you out with fun craftiness to be had this weekend. see you around!
ps….I apologize for the frequent use of the word “craft” in this post – it is the last day of school for kiddos and this week has just thrown me a little further off the deep end!!
Lesson Learned

What lesson you may ask?
Don’t Move in the middle of a 12 unit semester of night classes, while your husband also works part time, at the beginning of your sons little league season.
Yea. That.
Long long drawn out story short – we moved – we all (yep, even the kids) – got sick from too much commotion and ended up about a week and a half behind in school and work respectively. Yuck. So, next time, maybe during a vacation – or, really, hopefully NEVER!!!!!! we’ll see.
I have been knitting – not a whole lot since Christmas, but I have – I am in the middle of knitting another beret – it’s lovely and soft and for a friend who ordered it (I promise It’ll be on your head soon V!)
I knit Katie a little sweater vest following this pattern: the cowboy/butterfly/astronaut.
and miss Katie claims to love it, but will only wear it for about 2 minutes at a time and then it ends up on the floor somewhere….maybe we don’t understand the point of a vest yet?
Adrianna on the other hand, WANTS one, and I cannot knit it fast enough for her liking at all. Yep, so I’ve got to get on that.
I know, it doesn’t seem like a lot to be working on does it? And I know, I promised a knitting class per month – I may have to apologize for March – it’s slipped right through my fingers and is continuing to drip… April knit night at my house? I hope that will make up for it. I’ll make cookies and have wine here too…..forgiven? great!
That’s all for now, a quick check in really, just felt bad for neglecting this thing so badly lately. Hope you are well!!!!!
Yikes

I read the yarnharlot’s post today and thought about giving in and catching the “startitis” she is so willfully exposing the rest of us knitters to….and then, I opened the yarn closet (I haven’t even started on the drawers or containers under the bed) – and spied the crazy tangled mess within. Tonight I am organizing my stash, and while organizing I am finding the leftovers of years past when i have caught the before mentioned “startitis”… I think there are 15 – 20 projects half to 3/4 done – and more ready to go. oh my.
I may have to catch the finishing bug – any one feeling contagious?
White Christmas
26 Dec 2010 Leave a Comment
Well, it happened! A beautiful White Christmas – and while it’s not fluffy white snow that just keeps pouring down, it coated the golf course and tree tops and made for a little more Merry Christmas. Added bonus? kids don’t care if snow is dry and fluffy and still falling – they are absolute thrilled to just play in the slushy and icy snow, as long as it’s white and cold and it takes at least 2 (child-size) handfuls to get down to the deck.
Note: The falling snow is not falling from the sky, but melting quickly from the trees as the sun hits them – still beautiful.
And for fun, our very own pink ladies:
(someone else was taking a picture from the front, I’ll try and obtain that copy later)
and the T-birds:
I hope you all had a wonderful holiday – whatever you’re celebrating.
pick me up

When I was little, I would play the piano to get away from life, playing was like my own little fort with a “Becca Only” sign. If I was having a bad day, or fighting with my sister, the night my grandpa died, the days my best friends were made at me: All I needed to do was sit down and play and the world was better….really not better, just non-existent. Playing was my way to forget what was going on. It’s like reading a good book, where you get so involved you’re like an extra character of the book……until 5 hours later when it ends and you feel just exhausted from be thrown around the storyline only to wake up in reality and find it confusing that no one else knows where you’ve been.
I haven’t progressed much in the music department since High School….and that is now 10 years ago. I know that’s short to some, and loooong to others….to me, that time just seems sort of surreal. I feel like I’ve lived different lives before and within those ten years. None of the times lived really seem linear or consecutive…choose your word, I can’t decide which is best. Only the fact that I have 3 kids and their ages continue to increase, makes me believe that I probably was that little girl with my piano playing “fort”.
Back to the point. I don’t run to the piano for solace or escape anymore – it doesn’t work as well when at least 1 of the 3 kids hangs on every key, or my leg, or screams until I pay attention to their want to play something instead, but there is one thing I play and I feel better. Only 1, and throughout the last ten years, it’s the only song that still works as my fort. If you’ve known me that long, I bet you can guess, if not, I leave you here with my favorite youtube version.
Happy Thanksgiving Everyone. No matter if or how you celebrate, who your with or not with – I hope you’re Thankful for what you have. I’m not always as Thankful as I should be, but I’m trying!
Brrrr…..

Goodness, the weather just can’t decide -
“Here ya go folks, enjoy the lovely 80 degree weather in November”
“oh, I mean 90″
“um. how about 39!? and rain”
well, we all bundled up for school this morning and I was looking at my kids and thinking (yet again), why haven’t I made them sweaters for winter?…..it is, after all, November already and I should have had plenty of time to make them each a sweater. Not to mention actually make one for Scott and myself. hm.
Little A wore a sweater this morning that was made for K a couple of years ago and all 3 of them had a hat that I’d made – I sewed buttons on it before we left, because, well, I just hadn’t gotten around to it, and it hasn’t ever been worn on a day that wasn’t cool enough to leave the sweater un-buttoned…..but really, for having a mom that knits constantly, doesn’t that seem a little sad?
Guess I should get on that.
Nothing really to see here…

Goodness, you’d think I went on vacation or something!
Life has been just a stream of events lately, all of which have left me blogless – My apologies Darling readers, I do appreciate your frequenting my blog (even if I can’t think of why you’d want to know about my crazy life!)
So, at a glance:
Lambtown was lovely – I taught 3 of the originally scheduled 5 classes. 2 of which only had 1 student each – but it was fun – I almost like teaching private lessons a little better than groups – one never feels left behind, and all the questions asked can be attended to as they come up. That said, a group does keep things a little more lively – especially in the droll knit knit knit knit sections of the classes. Thanks to all my students! I hope you gleaned enough information from the classes to continue your knitting journeys! Thanks to Robyn and Dana for coordinating the entire crazy affair and giving all us fiber/yarn junkies a place to play in wool and alpaca and yarn – and to feel not at all like an outcast for our hobbies
Then there was Indie Davis- which was a lovely afternoon of selling handknits, seeing other local crafters, and mainly people watching – Thanks to Nina from Haute Again for putting that on – there will be another in December and I highly recommend you all go and at least check out the local talent – I will not be there for that one as I am in charge of organizing a craft fair at Allen’s school that same day – Lucky you! You’ll have two crafty places to go in one day!!!!
I will have yet another Craft fair to attend this weekend – Rominger West Winery in Davis will be hosting a craft fair and Free Wine Tasting (Rootbeer floats for the kids and non-drinkers) event on Saturday October 30 from 12-5 – come on out and visit.
What else? well, normal life of course – running kids to school and back and random sports and playdates – working at Arco Arena – went to the beach with family last weekend – got to watch the Giants win along with Scott’s side of the family – so fun – much screaming and jumping and laughing were to be heard/seen from the packed hotel rooms – kinda felt sorry for the other guests – also wondered why they weren’t jumping for joy too!
Having fun with knitting lately – have started mittens for the upcoming fairs, but I’m going to have a bit of trouble parting with them if the weather keeps getting this cold in the evening!
Pictures again soon…
Alright. that was my quick update. Hope you’re all well!

Okay, what do you think readers? should I keep this new blog look? I kind of like the clean look it has – makes my life feel just a little less chaotic….thoughts?
Thanks!

Well, close enough anyway – tomorrow will be October 1st
Today I thought I would get back on the posting bandwagon and just put up some pictures of some of the things that have kept me knitting instead of blogging lately.
And so, without further ado….
See you October 9th at Indie Davis…..
